PREDNASAJUCI / LECTURER : Emil Kundra NAZOV / TITLE : Eclipsing binary stars - an adventure ABSTRAKT / ABSTRACT : Eclipsing binaries are proving to be powerful tools for studying a wide spectrum of astrophysical problems. I will present different types of eclipsing binaries connected with my work. We have come to a conclusion that merges previously contradictory opinions on post-common eclipsing binary V471 Tau behaviour. We explained the eclipse timing variability of V471 Tau by the magnetic cycle of its K2 V red dwarf secondary and the simultaneous presence of a third component - a brown dwarf. I will also mention the significant upgrade/progress in the Dwarf project - an eclipse variability study on ~50 dwarf binaries and an investigation of symbiotic binary BF Cyg in a long active phase.
