About the conference

The meetings at Bezovec will have their 53nd sequel in 2021 and are among the leading events of the Slovak Astronomical Society of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Traditionally, they allow the exchange of experience between professional astronomers and variable stars observers, especially among students and youth actively working in astronomical clubs throughout Slovakia.

The focus of the conference is not just on variable stars, but covers a wide range of topics of stellar astrophysics, from exoplanets to cosmology. Contributions can be presented in the form of review lectures, regular talks, short announcements, and posters.

The Bezovec conferences are very well known not only for their valuable scientific program but also for their rich social activities, which include a welcome party, walking trips to Bezovec hill or the ruins of Tematín Castle, and a conference dinner.

Venue

Bezovec is a famous tourist locality with wild nature in heart of Slovakia under Bezovec hill. This year, as usual, the conference will be held in the guest-house Penzión Bezovec (see below).

Transport: The best way to get to Bezovec is through the famous Slovak spa town of Piešťany. On Friday and Saturday, you can take the buses from the coach station in Piešťany toward Nová Lehota (stop Nová Lehota, Bezovec) as follows:

on Friday: 14:55, 17:10, 18:30
on Saturday: 6:35, 9:15, 11:10, 14:45, 17:30

Registration

The limited financial budget makes LOC collect conference fees from all participants of the Bezovec 2021 meeting. The conference fee is only 50,- €, and includes accommodation and all meals during the conference. A welcome cocktail, refreshment during coffee breaks, and conference dinner are offered by the organizers and sponsors.
