| Description: | White-light stellar flares are crucial for estimating high-energy irradiation of exoplanet atmospheres, especially in the habitable zone. Using high-cadence data from CHEOPS and TESS, we studied the morphology of white-light flares in a sample of 130 stars, comparing high- and low-cadence results. Our algorithm separated complex flares to compare them with simple flares and examined amplitudes and periodicities in quasi-periodic pulsation candidates (QPP). Complex flares accounted for a significant part (about 30%) of events, with high-impulse flares more common than low-cadence data suggested. Simple and complex flares differed in duration but not in peak luminosity. Statistical analyses hinted at log-normal rather than power-law distributions for flare parameters, supporting diverse formation scenarios. QPP findings were consistent with prior studies, revealing a possible pre-flare dip. |
