Abstract: The daily soft X-ray flare index was determined from the daily continuous profile of solar soft X-ray flux, as published in Solar Geophysical Data. In order to determine the heliographic coordinates of Long Duration Events (LDEs) we exploited the fact that the soft X-ray flare emission is uniquely tied with the occurrence of H-alpha flares. The daily flare index is given in Table 1. The left (right) columns of Table 1 comprise the 1973 (1974) year data. Table 1 contains the Eastern (E), Central (C) and Western (W) indices of an LDE as well as a daily flare index of the impulsive (I) flares, observed from January 1, 1973 to December 31, 1974.
