From this web page, you can obtain the data and documentation on the IAU MDC DATABASE of photographic meteor orbits, VERSION 2003.
NEW: SUPPLEMENT OF ANOTHER 211 METEORS ADDED IN 2012
To go to the web-page with a desription and possibility to download these
data, click
here.
THE ORIGINAL 2003-VERSION DATA:
photodb2003.zip - ZIPped database
for a download (0.7 MB)
The data are compressed (using zip). After downloading the data, you can
decompress them:
-- in UNIX by command "unzip -d . photodb2003.zip";
-- in Windows using WindowsCommander --> Files --> Unpack Specific
Files
Within the ZIP archive, the following data files are available (you can
also download the data file by file):
* geo2003.dat - geophysical data of 4581 meteors
* orb2003.dat - orbital data of 4581 meteors (corresponding to the geophysical data in "geo2003.dat")
* all2003.dat - merged geophysical and orbital data of the 4581 meteors sorted by the date of their detection; using geophysical data, the orbital elements are recalculated to provide a consistent data set; file "all2003.dat" is an alternative form of the data contained in files "geo2003.dat" and "orb2003.dat"
Specific information concerning the data are summarized in the files:
supplem.lst - list of meteors with
some basic parameters completed in the IAU MDC (these parameters were not
published by the original authors)
correct.lst - list of meteors corrected in one basic parameter in the IAU MDC
twocorr.lst - list of meteors reliably corrected in two basic parameters in the IAU MDC
reject.lst - list of meteors, where two or more corrections were necessary to reach that the data were mutually consistent, whereby the correctness still cannot be guaranted; the meteors are recommended to be rejected from the data in a proper usage
hyperb.dat - list of meteors on extremly hyperbolic orbits (with the heliocentric velocity beyond the Gaussian dispersion) with their geophysical and orbital data
document.txt - documentation to the database as an ASCII file
At the standard distribution, the ASCII version of the documentation
pamphlet is offered. If reading and/or printing a postscript or PDF file
is more convenient for you, you can download the PS or PDF version of
the pamphlet clicking the following tags:
document.ps - documentation to the database as
a postscript file (0.23 MB)
document.pdf - documentation to the database as
a PDF file (0.85 MB)
If you are interested in the database, the IAU Meteor Data Center would
appreciate to fill in a following form, which we believe will help us to
improve a future version of the database. Thank you, indeed, in advance.
