It includes at least 4 objects having similar property: cool K-M type spectra in outbursts. It is established that at least two of them, V838 Mon and V4332 Sgr were binary systems with a blue component, which exploded. A big amount of mass of several solar masses is usually thrown out in the space in such explosions. We have studied the progenitors of the last two novae using plate archives and digitized surveys, and the evolution of remnants using spectroscopic and photometric methods. We studied also stellar and gaseous surroundings of V838 Mon, which may be a young stellar system.
