TITLE: Outburst of the slow classical nova V612 Sct. AUTHOR: D. Chochol, AI SAS ABSTRACT: The results of the multicolour UBVRI photometry and echelle spectroscopy of the nova V612 Sct, discovered during its outburst on 2017 June 19.41 UT, are presented. The nova reached brightness maximum V = 8.42 mag on 2017 July 29.99 UT. The V and B light curves were used to classify the object as a slow nova of J-type with multiple peaks on decline and to find the basic characteristics of the nova. Estimated colour excess E(B-V) = 0.75 allowed to derive the distance to the nova 3.5 kpc. The study of radial velocities of Hα and Hβ P Cyg absorptions revealed the structure of an ex- panding shell consisting of inner and outer envelopes, accelerated by the wind. The P Cyg absorptions were most enhanced during rebrightenings.
