Thorsten Döhring: Counterbalancing iridium coating stress for astronomical X-ray mirrors Based on their excellent reflection properties iridium coatings are considered for grazing incidence mirrors in spaceborn astronomical X-ray telescopes. However, the applied iridium layers often suffer from high coating stress. In collaborations between Aschaffenburg University and the French Institute Fresnel methods for stress compensation have been developed. Experimental results as well as some theoretical background will be presented.
