E. Paunzen Recent developments in star cluster research Star clusters allow us to study a distinct population of stars at a given distance from the Sun. Their ages cover the complete range up to the age of the universe. I will review the most recent results of star cluster research covering the nearest ones analyzed with Gaia data to the more distant extragalactic ones in the Magellanic Clouds. This will include the search for intermediate-mass black holes and different star sequences in Globular clusters. Another important topic covered is the current controversy about the existence of very young open clusters in the Galactic halo.
